Contemporary Art Pop-Up in Delmar
Contemporary abstract painter Michael Nighswonger is returning to the Capital District with a pop-up exhibit of over 40 pieces from his latest collection from March 15 – 25 in Delmar, NY. The exhibit, which will be held at the recently vacated TD Bank building at 343 Delaware Avenue, will be open daily from 10 AM – 8 PM. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Nighswonger will be exhibiting bold, abstract, large-scale canvas paintings, rich in texture and color, a body of work he has been creating for over seven years. Nighswonger, who sees his pop-up exhibits as a form of performance art that allows him to connect directly with his audience, has exhibited in locations around the country including Lake Placid, Seattle, and Raleigh. He resides in Tupper Lake, NY.
Nighswonger had significant success early in his career when he was commissioned to paint eighteen pieces for the new Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, home of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. Nighswonger’s paintings can be found in over 50 private collections, as well, including those of sports figures from the NHL and executives from Boeing and Microsoft. A wine and cheese reception is scheduled for Thursday, March 15th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. All are invited.
Additionally, Michael will be hosting two “Conversations about Contemporary Art” on Monday, March 19 @ 2:00 PM and Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 PM.
