Event Description:
Now that winter is here, why not learn to skate? The Albany Figure Skating Club's popular United States Figure Skating Basic Skills program begins in January, providing ice skating instruction for skaters of all ages, abilities, and interests. This program is a fun, safe way to learn the basics of skating or to improve skating skills. Two sessions of group skating lessons will be held on Saturdays from January 3, 2015 through March 7, 2015 at the Bethlehem Area YMCA (900 Delaware Ave., Delmar, NY 12054), at 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Skaters may choose from five, eight, or ten week options. Skate rentals are available, and skaters do not need to be YMCA members to participate. Recreational, figure skaters, and hockey skaters aged preschool to adult are welcome. Skaters will have a 30 minute group lesson and 30 minutes of supervised practice. Specialty classes are offered in addition to the group lessons, including classes in Learn to Compete, Synchronized Skating, and Theater on Ice. Freestyle ice time for more advanced figure skaters, as well as small group Learn to Freestyle classes, are also available at 2:00 pm on Saturdays, following the Basic Skills session. Visit the Albany Figure Skating Club's website at www.albanyfsc.org for more information about these programs, or contact Program Director Rachel Dotson at AlbanyFSCBasicSkills@Gmail.com.
