Get ready for MHLC's Summer Hike-a-thon Scavenger Hunt!
This year there will be painted bird cutouts hidden at all 22 preserves.
NEW in 2022: We're teaming with Art on the Rail Trail to expand the scavenger hunt! You can find bird-themed creations all along the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail! The Scavenger hunt begins on Friday, July 1, and ends on July 31.
Let the fun begin! Follow the steps below to get started:

Let the fun begin! Follow the steps below to get started:
- Use the button below to register for the event. Clues will be sent to registered participants before July 1.
- Visit an MHLC Preserve or search the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail for birds or bird-themed pieces.
The bird creations will remain in the the preserves and on the Rail Trail all through the month of July. - Take a selfie with it! We love group photos; each person in the photo who is registered gets an ice cream card!
- Send your selfies to connect@mohawkhudson.org before the August 5th deadline to receive the following:
- An ice cream card from Stewart's Shops,
- One entry in the drawing to win one of the Rail Trail artworks,
- One entry to win the grand prize, a unique birdhouse from Wildbird Junction in Delmar, and
- Coupon from Wildbird Junction
