Albany, NY — Carver Companies announced today the opening of its new global corporate headquarters at 26 Corporate Circle in Albany, New York.
The 54,000-square-foot facility marks a significant chapter for Carver Companies as it pursues strategic growth of its key business divisions, notably the company’s maritime, construction, and materials operations. Carver Companies owns and operates the Port of Coeymans Marine Terminal and Coeymans Industrial Park; its footprint also includes port facilities in Staten Island, N.Y., Charleston, South Carolina, and New Brunswick, Canada.
“This new headquarters offers the space and resources we need to support the ongoing expansion of Carver Companies,” said Carver Laraway, chairman and founder. “While we’re a worldwide operation, the Capital Region is our home. We’re excited to establish a presence in another key part of Albany County, all while maintaining our strong roots and longstanding commitment to the Town of Coeymans.”
Carver Companies was previously headquartered at the Port of Coeymans. Having outgrown the space, the company opted to acquire a larger building rather than pursue new construction on site. The move not only provides room for growth, it also allows the company to reinvest savings that would have gone toward a costly development project into its people, client services, and strategic initiatives.
Carver Companies’ new headquarters was celebrated by Capital Region business leaders and lawmakers, many of whom were on hand for Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, emceed by Pete Bardunias at the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce.
“Carver Companies has been a valued part of our business community for over 30 years. We’re proud to be home to a company that is not only a leader in its industry but also a strong local partner. This expansion sends a clear message: Albany County offers the talent, infrastructure, and support companies need to thrive in the global market. I look forward to seeing them succeed here for years to come,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy.
“The Capital Region Chamber is proud to celebrate this new headquarters for Carver Companies right in the heart of the Capital Region,” said Pete Bardunias, Senior Vice President, Capital Region Chamber. “With one of their major focuses on the maritime industry both at sea and on our inland waterways, and our interconnectivity with the rest of the nation and the world, Carver Companies is setting the standard for how our region can prosper as commerce grows across the globe. We are grateful that Carver Companies not only operates facilities here, but has chosen to locate its corporate epicenter among us. The company is a tremendous business and community partner, and we wish them much success in this effort.”
About 75 of Carver Companies’ employees have already relocated to Albany. The facility includes a 296-seat auditorium and a 140-person dining hall—amenities that will enhance internal collaboration and allow the company to host meetings and events for its multiple business units.
Carver Companies is also exploring the possibility of renting the auditorium space at 26 Corporate Circle — or its fully functioning commercial kitchen — to other local businesses.
To support its growth, Carver Companies will host a job fair on Tuesday, August 19, aiming to expand its talented workforce even further.
Carver Companies will continue to operate and grow its business at the Port of Coeymans. The company plans to maintain a significant presence in the Coeymans community through its charitable, neighborhood revitalization and volunteerism efforts.
