SBA Recognizes Berkshire Bank for Most Guaranteed Loan Approvals in Vermont

PITTSFIELD, MA, January 12, 2016, 2015 – The United States Small Business Administration recognized Berkshire Bank, America’s Most Exciting Bank®, in having made the most guaranteed loans within Vermont during fiscal year Oct. 1, 2014 through Sept. 30, 2015. 

On December 10, the SBA hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards event at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier, Vermont, showing an attendance of over 100 lenders from various financial institutions. Berkshire Bank was acknowledged by the Vermont District office for having the most guaranteed loans within the state, at 68 loans to close the fiscal year, as well as for supporting various SBA loan programs. 

Darcy Carter, SBA Vermont District Director, stated that “Each financial institution that made an SBA loan in FY15 played a key role in supporting small business and economic development in Vermont.” 

Vermont has seen a great increase in SBA loans from fiscal year 2014 to 2015. Small business loans have risen from 262 loans to 330 loans, a 26 percent increase. Vermont’s loan volume by dollars have shown an increase that proved to be third highest percentage in the nation, from $33.9 million to $53.5 million. 

Berkshire Bank was also recognized as “Top SBA Lender” in the Capital and Central regions of New York and Western Massachusetts, as well as being awarded Lender of the Quarter award for 4th Quarter Fiscal Year 2015 in Connecticut, emphasizing the dedication of Berkshire Bank to fueling small businesses within all the communities they serve.
