Thank You Commissioner TenEyck for Your Years of Service

On Tuesday April 30th, 2019 Commissioner George TenEyck stepped down as Commissioner of the Selkirk Fire District. Commissioner TenEyck was elected to the Selkirk Fire District Board Of Fire Commissioners in 2011 and re-elected in 2016 respectively. Commissioner TenEyck brought forth a wealth a fire service and communications technology knowledge to the BOFC.

During his eight years on the BOFC Commissioner TenEyck took on various roles during his time as Commissioner. He brought his exceptional organizational skills to the table when he help organized all of the District assets into the new Red Alert management system the District purchased. He worked with the line officers of the department to inventory every piece of equipment in the District, and get everything into the new system so that it could tracked better than what was able to be done previously. Commissioner TenEyck also drafted up the District Apparatus replacement plan. This plan shows the timelines, and potential replacement costs, adjusted for forecasted future cost increases, for each and every piece of apparatus in the District. Just like the inventory project, with Commissioner TenEyck’s leadership, the apparatus replacement plan is now in a modernized system, that can used for years to come. Most recently Commissioner TenEyck was the District representative on the town-wide Radio Committee, and was the leader in helping get the Selkirk Fire District over onto the Albany County 800 Radio System. He worked diligently is procuring as much of the new costly equipment via grants and other money saving methods as possible, helping save the tax payers from having to fully cover the cost of the move. Commissioner TenEyck was also one of the District’s Length Of Service Award Program (LOSAP) Trustees overseeing the District’s retirement service award program. He also served as the Petty Cash Officer during his term as Commissioner.

Commissioner TenEyck is thankfully not retiring from the fire service completely, and will still be serving on the Department’s Fire Police Squad, as he has for many years.
